According to current reports, the current government of Sindh has declared a holiday for all public and private schools, as well as colleges, on September 7 in honor of the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
This historic day remembers the sacrifices offered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his 72 companions during the Battle of Karbala in 61 AH. This occurs 40 days after Ashura.

Following a decision by its steering committee, the Sindh Education Department declared the closure of every private and public school and institution on this day.
Grief processions can be observed as people pay their respects to the Karbala martyrs in various cities and towns over the country.

In this regard, the annual Urs of Data Ganj Bakhsh Syed Ali Hajveri has been declared a holiday in Lahore by acting Punjab chief minister Mohsin Naqvi on September 7 (Thursday).
The three-day Urs ceremony, which begins today (Tuesday), was made known by the Chief Minister during his visit to Data Darbar.
A langar khana, commonly referred to simply as a community kitchen, has been set up to supply food for an important number of attendees. According to Naqvi, it is our responsibility to be sure that everyone at the event has access to food.
