Pakistan Navy’s New Patrol Vessel, PNS Hunain, Splashes Into Action

On September 12, 2023, an event conducted in Romania showed the PNS Hunain, a patrol ship, being lowered into the sea by Damen Shipyards Galati.

This ship is part of Damen’s Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV) 2600 series of games that are made for the Navy of Pakistan.

In addition, it is not the first time they are out; in 2020, it effectively delivered two ships of a similar design, the PNS Yarmook and PNS Tabuk.

Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi, the Chief of Naval Staff of Pakistan, was amongst those in attendance that visited the event. Major figures from the Pakistan Navy, officials of the Romanian government, navy the government, Pakistanis who reside in Romania and the Damen team were around the other participants.

The Admiral awarded Damen high praise at the moment and was especially happy with how swiftly it created the PNS Hunain.

The value of this ship’s participation was highlighted by the commander as well. The security of the region and the safety of commerce channels in the Indian Ocean are further at risk, he said, thus it’s not only just displaying off military power.

The director of operations at Damen, Marc van Heyningen, showed pleasure. He expressed gratitude to the Admiral for being able to attend at the event and pointed out Damen’s longtime collaboration with the Pakistan Navy.

Local Sales Director for Damen, Stephan Stout, stated his joy and remarked all those engaged in the launching of this ship should be proud of themselves.
