For ex-Wapda distribution companies (DISCOs), the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) announced a fuel cost adjustment (FCA) hike of Rs. 1.46 per unit on Friday.
All customer categories, except those who use electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS) and lifeline services, will be subject to the aforementioned modification.
Based on the units billed to customers in July 2023, the adjustment will appear separately in their bills. The fuel cost adjustment for July 2023 will be reflected in XWDISCOs during the September 2023 billing cycle.

It is important to note that the distribution businesses had requested from NEPRA a rise in FCA of Rs. 2.07 per unit.
The masses already struggling with inflation will be further burdened by the tariff increase. Protests over increased power bills have broken out recently throughout the nation. Consumers will now see a hike in September bills, despite assurances of relief.
