In order to maintain decency throughout this holy trip, Saudi Arabia has created a dress code for women traveling on the Umrah pilgrimage. The regulation specifies three key criteria.
These are the rules and regulations for women joining in the Umrah pilgrimage, as given by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah:
- Simplicity: Women are suggested to wear simple, non-decorative dresses for Umrah.
- Modesty: It is recommended that women select clothing that fits loosely and hides every part of their bodies during Umrah in order that no part of their body is exposed.
- Flexibility: Due to the Saudi Ministry of Culture and Information’s instructions, women performing Umrah are allowed to go inside Masjid al-Haram (the Grand Mosque) dressed in any kind of clothing that fulfills all three standards listed above.
Male pilgrim must don Ihram, which is made up of a pair of free of stitch sheets, as a part of their Umrah clothing, it is essential to keep this in mind. On the contrary, covered women’s clothing is regarded as suitable Ihram dress for them.
