On Tuesday, Caretaker Federal Minister for Finance Dr. Shamshad Akhtar had a visit from Country Director for the World Bank Najy Benhassine in the Finance Division. Also, Tobias Akhtar Haque, the chief country economist, and Gailius J. Draugelis, the business’s operations manager, attended with Benhassine.
The minister addressed the delegation on the many steps the current government has taken to enhance the country’s income collection and the implementation of responsible financial policies. She underlined once again the caretaker government’s constant commitment to the prompt conclusion of all current development initiatives and the successful fulfillment of its roles under the IMF program.
The minister showed its commitment to put first the well-being of its citizens, mainly the most susceptible, by focused activities which promote equitable growth and reduce the impact of financial crisis on Pakistan’s people.

Benhassine praised the Pakistani government’s dedication to economic changes and highlighted the World Bank’s readiness to offer both technical and financial support to support Pakistan reach its development goals.

For the purpose to overcome major financial issues and promote sustainable development, he highlighted the value for cooperation both the banking sector and the Pakistani government. At the conversation, both parties highlighted their common objective of promoting social and economic development in Pakistan with the aim to offer the country with an excellent future.
To provide people in general with much-needed relief with challenging times for the economy, Dr. Akhtar addressed the importance for support to enhance social safety nets. In the end of the conference, both parties underlined their dedication to increasing their partnership for the economy of Pakistan and citizens.
Senior staff from the Finance and Economic Affairs Divisions, together with the Secretary of Finance, joined the meeting.
